One factor that can often comes up when a married couple decides to divorce is who is going to keep their home and who is going to move out. Most people couldn’t stand to live in the same home as their ex — like what happens in “War of the Roses.” For guys who are moving out of their marital home, there are a few things that should be considered.
Taking your time when you are looking for a new place is essential. You should think about what you truly want. If you are considering apartment living for your new life, make sure you can live with the neighbors who are on the sides of you, as well as those who live above you or below you. While you might not get to meet them when you look at the place, you can ask the person showing the property some basic questions about the neighbors.
In most cases, you are going to have to outfit your new place. Make sure that you remember to buy towels, kitchen basics, bedding and cleaning supplies. You likely want your apartment to look presentable when you have company come over.
Make sure that you have enough clothes to last you from one laundry day until the next. This is especially important for undergarments. While you are at it, grab some other self-care items like tweezers, combs, shampoo and similar items that you need.
If you are just embarking on your divorce, you should make sure that your rights are protected. This is especially important when you are dividing the marital property. Understanding the property division laws in Pennsylvania is the first step in making sure you get your new single life started on the best foot possible.
