Younger workers emphasize technological improvements for safety

Workforce trends can teach employers a lot about how their employees will receive technological improvements, including those which can improve safety as they work. A recent report issued by Samsara shows that younger talent is being attracted by technology in fleet operations.

Employees want to see more investments by their employers for security and safety. These investments can make employers more desirable for the incoming workforce. Many of the improvements that are coming out have to do with safety checks and preventative maintenance. In some cases, they’re leading to e-learning opportunities and upskilling opportunities for employees.

Onus is on the employers

While technological improvements can often encourage younger workers to accept certain job positions, employers can’t neglect having a wide range of safety equipment. Workers may need personal protective equipment, proper equipment for their particular job tasks, and suitable safety protocols in place in order to do their job duties safely.

As companies make technological improvements to various safety programs and equipment, they must ensure that employees understand how to use the new tools. Initial training and continuing education are key components, as the technology is worthless if it is not used or not used properly.

Despite companies supplying the most up-to-date technology, there’s still a chance that workers will suffer injuries while fulfilling their job duties. Those workers should be able to count on workers’ compensation to cover the costs of medical care and wage loss if they are injured. In some cases, injured workers may have to fight to get the benefits they are due. Having a certified workers’ compensation specialist on their side who can assist with this battle may be beneficial.  Contact our office today if you have questions about an on-the-job injury.
